Seychelles is divided into 27 districts, which constitute the country's sole level of subnational administration. As the only administrative subdivision in this island nation, districts serve as the primary units for local governance and public service delivery. They function as electoral constituencies and are responsible for managing local affairs, including the distribution of government services, maintenance of infrastructure, and implementation of national policies at the community level. Each district is administered by officials who coordinate with the central government to address regional needs. The districts vary considerably in population and geographic coverage, ranging from densely populated areas in and around the capital Victoria on Mahé to smaller communities spread across the country's outer islands.
