Regions in Belarus

About Regions in Belarus

Belarus is divided into 7 regions (voblasts) that constitute the country's primary administrative level in a two-tier system of territorial organization. These regions serve as intermediate governance units between the national government and local districts, responsible for implementing state policies, coordinating economic development, and overseeing the delivery of public services within their territories. Regional administrations manage healthcare facilities, educational institutions, infrastructure projects, and cultural programs while also supervising lower-level administrative units. Each region is headed by an executive committee appointed by the President of Belarus, which exercises both executive and administrative functions. The regional structure enables the central government to maintain administrative control while delegating operational responsibilities for local governance and public service provision across the country's territory.
