Administrative Post in Timor-Leste

Administrative Posts serve as the second and lowest level of territorial administration in Timor-Leste, with 65 such divisions currently established across the country's municipalities. These posts function as the primary interface between the national government and local communities, responsible for delivering basic public services, implementing government programs, and maintaining civil registration records. Each Administrative Post is headed by a Chief of Post appointed by the central government and typically encompasses several sucos (villages). The posts handle day-to-day administrative matters including issuing identity documents, facilitating access to health and education services, coordinating local development projects, and serving as a communication channel between municipal authorities and village-level leadership. This administrative structure reflects Timor-Leste's efforts to build effective local governance following independence in 2002.
